Semana Santa

You guys are probably wondering what the Semana Santa is......well the Catholics have a whole week celebrating what Christ did the week before his death and resurrection. They go to church like everyday during the week and then they eat fish Friday night. Its kind of cool because this helps everyone really fire up their own testimony about Jesucristo.
But that also means that not a lot of people were in their house because they left for the weekend so there was like 2 days when we suffered a bit. Walking 7 hours and not getting anything. But hey we knew that this would happen and it will come again haha. Suffer with JOY!!!

But this week lets see:
Familia Garrido!!!
They are just coming along great. They are absolutely amazing. Yes they still have their doubts and things that are different for them, but they are following with faith. They went to church again this past week and loved it again especially about the talks about Jesus Christ.   But the members are doing a great job of being their friends. We just got a new family from Argentina that set up a family night with them and its this Thursday!!! So we are very very excited. We also have a lesson with them tonight on the word of wisdom. It's going to be really important so a lot of prayers for them!! They get baptized the 17th of May!!
The dad is Marcelo, the mom Giovanna, the kids, Alexis, Dante, and Georgiana.
Alan!!
I don't know if you guys remember Alan but he was a great investigador. We lost him for a time and then recently we found him. And we passed by this week and it's incredible, he is an example to me and he isn't a member so we put a baptismal date with him too!! He is so excited and so ready to baptize.!!!  His date is the 31 of May!!! So pray a lot for him because he studies a lot.
Sunday a teacher didn't show up for a class they left for the weekend and they didn't have anybody to teach so a former missionary asked me to teach lesson 1, the restoration,to a class of 10 kids of like 13-15 years. It was pretty cool, I liked it a lot!!!
Then we had a lesson with the Familia Caballero that night. Its really difficult with them because they progress really slow but they are coming along. Just pray that they can open their eyes to see the blessings that they could have as a family.

Then Monday we got permission to go see a movie in the MOVIE THEATER!!!!! We got permission to see the Son of God and it was incredible. (that's also the reason I didn't write, we were too far so we didn't have time to write!) Our president liked it so much that he gave the whole mission permission to go to the movie theater!! It was incredible to see and really helped me to have even more love for Jesus Christ and what he did for us, to see the way he taught, the compassion he showed. And to ultimately see Him sacrifice himself for us so that we can have the opportunity to live again. If you guys haven't seen it I would highly recommend it.

I just want you guys to know my love for our Savior and for all that he did for us, that he suffered everything for us. EVERYTHING, so that we wouldn't have to go through our sufferings alone. He will always be with us, we just need to ask for help. His love is so big that we can't understand it. He was perfect in every way. We need to aspire and be like Him. Read the talk by Thomas S. Monson. Show compassion and love to everyone. We call ourselves disciples of Christ. It's time to act like Him!

I love you all so much, the gospel and Church are true.

Love, Elder  Cheney
